Butler City Police are stepping up their patrols of the city’s Father Marinaro Park following vandalism that has resulted in several thousands of dollars worth of damage.
Two men and a juvenile are accused of spray-painting graffiti at the park, which caused more than $16,000 in damage.
23-year-old Dane Smith of Second Street in Butler and 19-year-old Kyle Young of Evans City have been charged with felony criminal mischief. A 15-year-old city boy was also implicated.
Another man- 19-year-old Marcus Townsend of South Street in Butler- is also facing charges after police caught him driving his dirt bike throughout the park.
Police encourage people visiting the park who see suspicious activity or criminal behavior to call 911.
“Butler City officers are spending as much time as possible patrolling this park and others to ensure the children are able to enjoy their parks in a safe and fun manner,” according to a news release from city police Chief Bob O’Neill.
