A local woman had the honor of a life time to receive a signed picture of her and President Joe Biden.
Laurene Bowser’s son had a union rally in Pittsburgh in 2019 and Laurene was able to come down with him. While at the rally she was able to get a hug and picture with the soon to be President.
“I don’t know what the right word is, maybe excited, when I talk about Joe Biden. I think he’s such a wonderful man,” Bowser said. “To get a hug from the President of the United States–and I’m 91-years-old–it just enamors me. I’m just so happy and so blessed.”
But the dream didn’t end there. Through Senator Bob Casey office in Washington and Robbie Matesic, a regional representative for Casey in Greene County, the picture of the President and Laurene was signed and hand delivered.
“Once it got into Robbie’s hands, she decided to not send it by mail but she drove it to Laurene’s house and deliver it personally,” Casey said.
“That’s what you call good constituent service. You can fulfill someone’s request to get a picture signed, and that may sound simple when describing it, but it’s not quite easy to get all of that through the White House and through the system,” Casey added.
Years before Laurene had the opportunity to talk to Biden before he became president. She says the conversation was only a few minutes but felt like hours.
