A local school district will be collecting thousands of dollars due to the efforts of their non-profit education related organization.
The Karns City Scholastic Foundation recently awarded scholarships and grants totaling nearly $9,000 as well as secured nearly $20,000 in tax credits to help with a new media program.
For the 2017-18 school year, the foundation awarded five $500 teacher grants including for virtual reality devices, a computer coding program for younger students, building models, iPads, and STEM for 2nd graders. Also, three current and past Karns City students each received $2,000 scholarships to continue post high school training and education.
In addition, the Foundation partnered with NexTier Bank, Sonneborn Inc, and Farmers National Bank to direct tax credits to develop opportunities in the Karns City Broadcasting program. The Foundation is planning a Casino Bus Trip fundraiser for November 4th.
