Several local schools will be receiving funding from the PA Department of Education to help improve safety.
Karns City Area School District has been awarded nearly $22,000 through the School Safety and Security Grant Program. This program has also designated just over $20,000 for Butler Area School District as well as exactly $20,000 for Slippery Rock Area School District.
The Karns City and Butler grant money can be used for purchasing security equipment while the Slippery Rock grant is designated for programs like safety and security assessments as well as district wide school safety hazard plans.
A total of $8 million has been awarded to over 300 education agencies for school safety improvements in this most recent awarding of School Safety and Security Grants.
