An annual free event this weekend will give the community a chance to appreciate the talents of local students. Jeff Kroner is a music teacher in the Butler Area School District:
“They started off as just a very simple art sale and it has really developed into a true community event where there’s not just art sales but there’s baskets that you can buy, there’s a 50/50, there are silent and open auctions and being as the fine arts are not limited to just the visual arts but also the aural arts, we also have music.”
The FAB or Fine Arts and Beyond Showcase is in its 15th year at the Intermediate High School. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Saturday and continue to around 8:30 p.m.
According to Kroner, all money raised at the FAB Showcase benefits local students through the non-profit Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation.
“All of the money goes back to the students in one way or another. The scholastic foundation provides a multitude of scholarship opportunities. They also provide teachers opportunities to apply for teaching grants. Without the foundation, we wouldn’t have those chances.”
