Three local students are receiving recognition for their efforts and accomplishments.
Freeport Area Middle School student Anne Lindsay was one of eight local students honored in a national STEM competition. In a national pool of nearly 3,500 applicants, Lindsay’s project titled The Optimal Amount of Titanium Dioxide Needed to Reduce Bacterial Proliferation was among the top 300. She will receive a $125 award.
Seneca Valley first grader at Haine Elementary School Anne Newmyer recently had her artwork selected as the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV Young Artist Purchase Prize Award winner from almost 600 received. The 6-year-old’s painting called “Love” will be framed and part of the permanent collection at the MIU office in Grove City.
Another Seneca Valley student, senior Sarah Widenhofer was recently a part of the National Down Syndrome Society’s annual Times Square Video presentation. A photo of Sarah getting ready for a special needs beauty pageant in Cranberry Township last August was one of 500 chosen to appear in the video which was also streamed on social media.
