Several local high schools will be participating in the finals of a gladiator-style robot competition this weekend open to the public.
The 17th annual Southwestern Pennsylvania BotsIQ preliminary rounds will continue tomorrow at California University of Pennsylvania.
Hundreds of students from 41 schools across the region have spent the last few months building robots to compete, including teams from Freeport Area High School and Seneca Valley Senior High School.
The competition draws on students’ knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) subjects. The events are free with an opening ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.
