A local group of specialized first responders has received international recognition for their work on an incident two years ago.
The Butler County Water Rescue Team 300 received a Higgins and Langley Memorial Incident Award at a ceremony in the state of Indiana earlier this week.
In a 24 hour period between May 28th and May 29th of 2019, team members rescued 29 adults, 8 children, and 10 pets that were stranded as a result of heavy rains.
The Higgins and Langley Memorial Awards are not heroism awards but do recognize preparedness, teamwork, and a job well done under the extreme conditions of swiftwater and flood rescue.
