A beloved local music teacher and educator at the Butler Area School District for 35 years has died.
Beverly Antis- known to many as Ms. Bev- died earlier this month after a courageous six-month fight with pancreatic cancer.
Ms. Bev taught at Bon Aire, Clearfield, McQuistion and Emily Brittain elementary schools during her three-decade career as an elementary choral music teacher. She was also the musical director for over 10 years with the Butler High School Musicals.
Outside of school, she was very active with the Butler Musical Theater Guild, the Butler Symphony and the Butler Little Theater. After retiring from Butler, Ms. Bev worked in the music department at Slippery Rock University for the last 10 years, up until the time of her death.
A memorial service- which will include the SRU choir- will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28. More information here.
