Loretta A. Schnur, 82, of Butler, passed away, Saturday evening, April 29, 2023, while residing at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
She was born May 26, 1940 in Butler, a daughter of the late John H. Callihan and Helen (Unking) Callihan.
Loretta graduated from Butler High School in 1958 and was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. Francia of Assisi Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, also their Christian Mothers and the C.D. of A marching band, where she played the trumpet. She had volunteered for Church and School activities, had made rice for St. Mary’s Fish Frys for more than 20 years and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed painting ceramics, bowling, sewing, trips to the casino and spending time at their camp.
Surviving are her children, Dan and Ruthann Schnur of Butler; Roy and Joan Schnur of Mechanicsburg, PA; Tim and Virginia Schnur of Cabot; Theresa and Curt Tosi of Butler; Mark and Pam Schnur of Butler; Maria and Rick Shaffer of York, PA.
22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren with 2 more expected, 1 great great grandchild and 2 step grandchildren.
1 sister, Carol (Sam) Gregor.
2 brothers, Fran (Karen) Callihan and Hal (Marilyn) Callihan.
A number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Dean P. Schnur, whom she married July 11, 1959, he passed away on May 26, 2019; 2 brothers, Ed McKinney and John Callihan; 1 sister, Ida Grove and 1 great granddaughter.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 11:00 am, at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.
