Louise M. Slagle, 96, of Bruin, passed away late Saturday evening, March 30, 2024 at Parker Personal Care.
Louise was born in Petrolia on July 27, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Annie Moore Barger.
She was a graduate of Petrolia High School. Louise was a long time member of Faith Community United Methodist Church in Bruin and a devoted homemaker.
She enjoyed working in her yard, watching college basketball, looked forward to going out to eat with Don and Dorothy, trips to Indianapolis and cheering on her favorite NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Ronald L. Slagle, who passed away in 1993.
Surviving are her children, Ronald Slagle and his wife, Susan, of Indianpolis, IN, David Slagle and his wife, Deborah, of Petrolia, Thomas Slagle and his wife, Cindy, of Bruin, and Jeff Slagle (Lisa) of Slippery Rock; her grandchildren, Courtney Fedorek (Bill) of Hookstown, David Slagle (Jennifer) of Chicora, Carolyn McCall (Jim Rabb) of Roaming Shores, OH, Sam Claypoole (Tina) and Amy Price (Joshua), all of Bruin, Kimberly Hehman (Marty), Lee Yeary (Terry), and Stephanie Shearer (Matt), all of Indiana, Ronald Wiles (Lori) and Tracy Geasla (Robert), all of West Sunbury, Brenda Wiles of Petrolia, Michael Wiles (Alexis) of Parker, and James Slater (Heather) of Franklin; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Wiles; a granddaughter, Tammy Slagle; a brother, Byron Barger; three sisters, Ethel Cumberland, Dorothy Kelly, and Shirley Andre and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 3 p.m. with Louise’s nephew, Rev. Dennis Barger, pastor of Scrubgrass Stone Church in Emlenton, officiating.
