Mabel G. Vensel, 85, of Sunbury St., Fairview, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 19, 2020 in the comfort of her home, while in the company of her loving family.
Mabel was born in Parker on October 29, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Wesley L. and Ruby G. Shoup LeVier.
As a youth, Mabel attended school in Parker and graduated in 1953 from Fairview Twp. Karns City High School. In her earlier years, Mabel was employed by the Level Works in Parker and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Fairview Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Auxiliary to the American Legion Post in Fairview and the Donegal Grange.
She was married in Petrolia on June 2, 1956 to Louis James “Jim” Vensel. Mr. Vensel preceded her in death on December 18, 2008.
Mabel is survived by a daughter, Paula Ann Dorr and her husband, Paul, of Petrolia; a son, Eric James Vensel and his wife, Jackie, of Emlenton; her grandchildren, Tabitha Ford and her husband, Brian, of Chicora, Reva Kennedy and her husband, William, of Florida, Jennifer Lyn Vensel of Emlenton, and Dylan Jacob James Vensel of Emlenton; a great granddaughter, Leilani Kennedy; a sister, Joanne Horner and her husband, Darrell, of Rimersburg, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
A private family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City with the Rev. Robert Miller, retired pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
