A Pittsburgh man is in the Butler County Prison after police say he was driving impaired with a child and drugs in his vehicle.
It happened just before midnight Friday on Freeport Road in Summit Township when police pulled over 39-year-old Edward Kelso after he illegally passed a vehicle.
When police approached the vehicle, officers allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana and say Kelso’s eyes were bloodshot. After requesting to complete a sobriety test, Kelso admitted to having four bricks of heroin in the vehicle. He also had a four-year-old child in the car.
Kelso also admitted he planned on taking the drugs to a residence in Butler City.
Police have charged Kelso with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, endangering he welfare of children, and several other drug and traffic related offenses. He’s being held on $500,000 bail as he awaits a May 20 preliminary hearing.
