A Butler man has been charged after claiming to be an employee of a plumbing and heating company and then stealing thousands.
The incident happened back in March when 44-year-old Billy Abrams told a customer he worked for A1 City Service Plumbing and Heating. Abrams told the victim he could complete a project for $10,700 with $8,000 up front for material.
After the payment was made, the work was never completed leading to filing a police report. The investigating officer called the owner of A1 City Service who said Abrams had only been previously hired as a labor and he never assigned such a large job before to Abrams.
The owner had also said Abrams had been in trouble for committing this crime in the past.
Abrams has been charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and receiving advance payment for services and failure to perform. He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
