One person died in a pedestrian accident over the weekend in Butler Township.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center just after 8 p.m. Saturday for a pedestrian versus vehicle crash on Kittanning Street, near the intersection with Portman Road.
Butler Township Police say 46-year-old Patrick Bender Jr. was wearing dark clothing and walking in the eastbound lane of Kittanning Street when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Maria Rock of Butler.
After being hit, Bender fell to the ground in the eastbound lane and was hit once again by another vehicle driven by 19-year-old Natalie Fitzpatrick of East Butler, who police say could not avoid him.
Bender was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and was then flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center where he later died.
Police say the accident is currently under investigation.
