A Butler man is suing Butler Memorial Hospital for alleged inadequate care he received while a patient.
According to the lawsuit, then 63-year-old Gary Lauster was taken to BMH for treatment of stroke like symptoms.
The suit alleges Dr. Robert Benkendorf diagnosed him with radial nerve palsy and discharged Luster. Five days later Lauster had a stroke and was unable to walk or use the left side of his body.
He then stayed at a skilled nursing facility for three weeks.
Dr. Benkendorf no longer works at the hospital.
The suit accuses the doctor and the hospital of negligence and is seeking an amount that exceeds $35,000 as damages.
