One person was seriously injured this morning in a pedestrian accident on Route 8.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Route 8 and McCalmont Road in Butler Township. Witnesses say the man was walking across the highway from Baglier toward the Sheetz gas station.
He was struck in the northbound lane, with witnesses saying he flipped at least 20 feet into the air.
Dispatchers say the man was reportedly conscious when they arrived. He was taken to the Butler County Airport, where he was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center.
Traffic is expected to be delayed for a time.
