One person died after being hit by a car yesterday morning in Buffalo Township.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 8:20 a.m. for a pedestrian that was hit by a car on Ekastown Road (Route 228 East) about a mile before the intersection with Sarver Road.
According to our news partners at WPXI, 62-year-old Dave Roenigk was mowing his grass and weed eating when he was hit by a car. A driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel before hitting and killing Roenigk. The driver has not been identified.
Roenigk was a family member of the W.L. Roenigk Bus Company, which has its headquarters nearby.
A portion of Route 228 had to be shut down in between Sarver Road and Coal Hollow Road.
Police are continuing their investigation.
