March marks what is known as Red Cross Month across the country.
Officials say the annual event is a time to recognize the mission of the Red Cross which is to reduce human suffering worldwide. They say that mission is more important than ever due to the pandemic.
But they also say more people are becoming involved. The Red Cross has seen a rise in volunteers, with more than 70,000 new people nationwide assisting the Red Cross with emergency disasters and essential blood donations.
The month is highlighted by the Red Cross Giving Day on March 24th and blood drives during the latter part of the month.
