Marcia Stamp Rider of Saxonburg Road, Butler, died surrounded by family members at her home on Saturday, April 15, 2023. A victim of Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease, she was sixty-eight.
Marcia was born at Butler County Memorial Hospital on July 15, 1954, to Marilyn Raybuck Stamp and Robert L. Stamp. She grew up in Cranberry Township and graduated from Seneca Valley High School.
After her first marriage and the birth and early childhood of her two sons, Marcia returned to school. She earned an associate’s degree in nursing, magna cum laude, at Butler County Community College and her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Carlow University. She specialized first in psychiatric and then geriatric nursing.
Marcia’s career as a nurse and nursing administrator included stints at BCMH, St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars, and Tandem Healthcare, among other companies in Pennsylvania and later in Florida. In all settings, she was devoted to her patients and residents, many of whom became her friends.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Paul Donaldson of Butler; her beloved sons, Jason Sapienza of Prospect and Anthony Sapienza of Harmony; her brothers, Thomas Stamp of Gambier, Ohio, and Dr. Jeffrey Stamp (Dr. Beth Painter Stamp) of Little Rock, Arkansas; her niece, Alexis Stamp Boster of Van Buren, Arkansas; her nephew, Benjamin Stamp of Monterey, California; an uncle, Karl Raybuck of Mentor, Ohio; and numerous dear cousins and other relatives.
In accordance with Marcia’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. A celebration of her life will be scheduled for a later date. For those who wish to make memorial gifts, the family suggests donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or local Alzheimer’s charity.
