Margaret “Peg” Jean McPherson, 84, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 21, 1935 in Fenelton, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel J. Sutton and the late Helen Blose Sutton.
In her earlier years, Peg worked at Butler Armco in the Office Department then she went on to own and operate McPherson Beauty Shop in Meridian for numerous years. Peg attended First Baptist Church. She was an avid golfer, bowler and liked to play shuffleboard and also enjoyed round-dancing and square-dancing. Peg played the accordion, piano, and the organ. She loved crocheting, baking, gardening, and especially, spending time with her family.
Peg is survived by her husband, Ronald McPherson, who she married on July 6, 1955; one son, Timothy McPherson of Butler, PA; three daughters, Sandra (Fred) Kriess of Glendale, AZ, Susan (Hank) Voorhees of Grove City, PA, Mary (Heskil) Whitaker of Orange Park, FL; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Dirk Pickett of Butler, PA sister-in-law, Mildred Sutton of Butler, PA; a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son; and one daughter, Ronda Pickett; one sister and three brothers.
Friends will be received Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Christian School, 221 New Castle St., Butler, PA 16001.
