Maria Fantozzi Pocchiari, 87, of Butler, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, Oct 21 at Butler Hospital. She was surrounded by her family and friends.
Born February 2, 1930 in Melfi, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Philomena DiGiacomo Fantozzi.
She is survived by her husband Joseph, who she married Nov. 20,1958, at the Cathedral in Melfi, Italy; and her children Anna, Louie, John, and Elizabeth, all of Butler. She was also preceded in death by her sister Rosetta Fantozzi in Italy. After her husband’s tour of duty in Europe she moved with her family to Butler in 1965. She was a volunteer for many years at St. Michael School cafeteria. She was employed by Bartoli Cleaners of Butler. She was a member of both St.
Michael R.C. Church, and St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 4 p.m until to 8 p.m. at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler. There will be a Parastas at 6 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of St. Michael’s Cemetery.
