Maria “Marie” E. Honzo

Maria “Marie” E. Honzo, 82, of Saxonburg passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She was born in Butler on January 14, 1942 to late Lewis and Augusta (Salpini) Doctor. Marie retired from Moonlight Mushrooms in Worthington, PA. She was known for being a caring and generous person, who never let visitors leave hungry or without something new. Loved caring for birds, wildlife and her pets and enjoyed crafting and making wreaths. Marie loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed family vacations to Myrtle Beach. She loved playing bingo and loved to shop and share her “bargains” with her family and close friends. And was known for baking the best tarts, cakes, cookies, pies and nut rolls. Marie was the beloved wife of the late Fred Honzo, whom she happily married 64 years ago, and passed just a short 48 hours prior to her; mother of Joe (Lee Ann) Honzo and Lisa (Jason) Lassiter; sister of Lewis Doctor Jr., Carol Fry, George (Carol) Doctor, Gloria (Raymond) Downing, Toni Herold, Julie (Jeff) Bummer, Terri Doctor-Fratto, and Joseph Doctor; grandmother of Kyle (Raelene) Honzo, Courtney Honzo, Ty (Shayna) Honzo, Alaina Antanaitis, Hope Lassiter; great grandmother of Ava Brumbaugh and Jordon Honzo. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Fend and brother, Gary Doctor. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024 in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joesph R.C. Church of Cabot
