A marine veteran who fought in World War II celebrated his 100th birthday with a big surprise.
Corporal Karl Herold of Prospect turns 100 years old Tuesday and over the weekend he was treated to a full marine color guard.
He was joined by fellow marines and Congressman Mike Kelly.
Herold served as a marine from 1942 to 1946. He stormed the beaches at Saipan and Tinian, and served on Okinawa in preparation for the Japanese mainland invasion.
Herold also spent several weeks in Nagasaki after the war.
