The Seattle Mariners avoided a sweep by the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday with a 10-3 victory at PNC Park. Jake Woodward started for the Pirates. He allowed seven runs, five earned over four innings. Reliever Ryder Ryan allowed three additional runs in his 2-2/3rd innings. Seattle hit three home runs in the game. Joey Bart hit a two-run home run for the Pirates.
The Bucs had snapped their 10-game losing streak Friday night, with a 5-3 victory over the Mariners. They also won Saturday’s game 7-2.
The Pirates visit the Texas Rangers tonight, beginning a three-game series. First pitch is 8:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:40pm. Luis Ortiz will start for the Bucs.
The Pirates placed designated hitter Andrew McCutchen on the 10-day Injured List with knee inflammation over the weekend.
