With the state Department of Environmental Protection requiring some municipalities to upgrade to sewer systems, that’s impacting some communities in our county.
One area in particular has been Marion Township, which county officials added more state funding to the project last week. It’s going to cost an estimated $4.3 million.
County officials say the project is “further behind than anticipated,” but had high hopes it would go out to bid this year. However, the costs may be increasing due to rising prices in construction.
The county is also looking at making the project affordable to help cut costs for tap-in fees and monthly rates.
Overall, the sewer installation would impact more than 100 homes and businesses.
