Marlys K. Miller, 88, of Butler, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, May 3, 2024.
Born June 23, 1935, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and the late Eva (Lamotte) Kippere.
Marlys was a graduate of Butler High School and went on to work in the office at Armco and later, was a Department Head for K-Mart until her retirement in 1997. She was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler. Marlys enjoyed tending to roses in her garden, eating spicy food, and had a love for animals and her pets. She was also an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines and blown glass. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family. Marlys was an amazingly devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and the best grandma ever.
She is survived by her son, Raymond “Ray” Miller of Camp Hill, PA, her daughter, Cheryl Klabnik and her husband, John, of Butler, four grandchildren, Jonathan, Tom, Kelly and Madison, 2 nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Raymond Miller, Jr. whom she married on November 10, 1956, and who passed away on October 5, 2016, her sister, Hilda Keck Zorb, a nephew, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Phillips of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marlys’ honor may be made to the Butler Co. Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Rd, Renfrew, PA 16053.
