The Mars Area School District is making some administrative changes in order to more closely meet student needs, especially in the area of special education.
During a school board meeting on Tuesday, the Mars School Board approved Dr. Rick Glosser as the Director of Student Services at an annual salary of $90,000, effective immediately. Dr. Glosser was formerly the Mars School psychologist for a number of years.
According to Superintendent Dr. Wes Shipley, this position will be very involved with special education. With the addition of this position, Mars will no longer have a Director of Pupil Services, which is more focused on general education. The current Director of Pupil Services is on medical leave before she will retire later this year.
Mars already hired Dr. Glosser’s replacement as school psychologist in January. Dr. Glosser will work closely with Keystone Consultants, a state consulting group that is assisting the district with their special education programming, through June.
