The last Butler County school district to begin a new school year officially welcomes students back to school today.
Summer was extended for students in the Mars Area School District due to the ongoing Middle School Renovation Project.
A cleaning crew was brought in over the weekend to make sure all areas open to students and staff are ready. Air quality monitoring has been ongoing throughout the summer work.
The project includes renovations to all classrooms; the installation of a new floor, new lighting and air conditioning in the gym; and the expansion of the kitchen/cafeteria serving area.
New mechanical equipment, flooring and lighting is being installed throughout the building. Construction will continue to take place after school hours- likely through December.
