Mars Area School District is trying a new schedule rotation for elementary school students.
For all students in kindergarten through sixth grade, beginning with the first day of school this Thursday (8/24) each day will be numbered one through five in sequential order before starting over. Because of vacation days or weather, with this system each number will not always be on the same day of the week.
This change was made in order to allow kids an equal number of opportunities to attend special area classes such as art, library, music, physical education, and STEAM.
In past years, elementary students had these kinds of classes only on a certain day of the week so if there was no school that day for a planned or unplanned reason, they would not attend that particular special area class until the week after or possibly longer.
