The Mars Area School Board is providing tools to assist administrators with the ongoing investigation into a cyber security incident last month.
At their Tuesday night meeting, board members approved the extension of an agreement with consultant company Arete as well as the purchase of software called SentinelOne at a cost not to exceed $40,000 annually.
A statement issued by Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross confirmed that unspecified Mars data was leaked online as a result of the September 27th incident. Law enforcement is involved with this ongoing investigation and impacted individuals will be notified.
The district will continue to work with technology experts along with representatives in the insurance and legal fields to protect the security and privacy of personal student information.
