The Mars Area School Board is considering the construction of new tennis courts at the location of current courts that are in bad condition.
At their Tuesday meeting, the board heard from a representative of Pashek and MTR who recently completed a sketch study of available options.
Alternative locations were considered but would not work for a variety of reasons so plans presented would see the construction of four or five new courts at the High School near Route 228.
The estimated cost of the work is nearly $1.9 million but a large portion of that cost would go towards adjusting parking and paving a new bus lane.
The Mars Board and administration will consider options and discuss the possibility of moving forward with this work next year but a timeline will depend on the status of ongoing PennDOT work in the area.
