The Mars School District administrators have taken the concerns of families and staff members into account as they prepare to educate students beginning next week.
At a school board meeting earlier this week, Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross discussed recent developments as related to the Health and Safety plan for the upcoming school year.
The wearing of masks will remain voluntary in school buildings for students and staff. Masks will be required for travel on school buses which has been mandated by federal law for public transportation. Gross pointed to a lack of authority to require masks without an emergency order or specific mandate.
Social distancing will be maintained when feasible and the district will continue coordinating with local health authorities. Live Stream Interaction or distance learning will only be available for students who have been mandated to quarantine by the state. Fully vaccinated students or those wearing face coverings will not be sent home or asked to quarantine if a close contact tests positive for COVID.
The plan is posted in its entirety on the district’s website.
