Mars Area School District students recently raised a large amount of money for worthy causes through a couple of different fundraisers.
First, students at the district’s three elementary schools together collected nearly $20,000 to benefit the American Heart Association through the Hearts for Heroes fundraiser in February and early March. In addition to collecting donations, students also participated in a variety of heart healthy fitness activities including basketball, hockey, and jump rope.
The Mars Area High School Varsity Hockey Team raised a total of over $1,200 through their “Ice ALS” Night event on February 27th. During the home game against the Quaker Valley Quakers, attendees were asked to make a donation for admission and had the chance to participate in t-shirt sales, basket raffles, and prize drawings. Proceeds from this fundraiser went to the Western PA Chapter of the ALS Association.
