Some local students will kick off Read Across America Week with a program later this week.
Students at Mars Area Primary Center are scheduled to see a performance by a magician and storyteller on Friday.
They will also have the chance to participate in themes for each day next week. Monday is “Surfs Up for Reading” Day and kids can wear a Hawaiian shirt. Tuesday is “Reading Jogs the Mind” Day with students able to wear exercise clothes.
Other themes include “Read Your Shirt” Wednesday, and “Reading Gives You Superpowers” Thursday with students taking part in field trips to the Mars Area Public Library. Friday is “Be a Storybook Character” Day with members of the Mars Area High School Varsity Baseball team reading to students.
