A local school district is holding a fundraiser this week to benefit a family fighting a childhood cancer diagnosis.
A “Go Gold for Ford” benefit will take place Friday in the Mars Area School District to raise money for the family of 3-year-old Ford Bartle whose sibling is a first grader at Mars Area Primary Center.
All Mars students in all schools are encouraged to wear gold on Friday and can make a freewill donation. Staff members have been asked to contribute a minimum of $5 to wear jeans and gold colors to school. The fundraiser will continue at the varsity football team’s home game at 7 p.m. where attendees are asked to wear gold and donate.
The Bartle family also has three other young children being watched by family and friends while the parents are with Ford who is undergoing aggressive treatment at a cancer center in New York.
