Young students in the Mars Area School District are enjoying a unique experience in one of the hallways at the Primary Center.
A new Sensory Motor Walk has been installed in one of the kindergarten hallways by the school occupational therapists, the like skills teacher, and volunteers.
Instead of just walking down the hallway, the Sensory Motor Walk invites kids to hop, jump, and tiptoe along a pathway that includes pictures, numbers, and letters on the floor and walls.
This project was funded by the Mars Area School District’s Special Education Department with the goal of helping students develop motor skills, balance, hand-eye coordination, and special awareness.
