The Mars Area School Board is considering a land swap that could lead to a larger baseball field.
At their Tuesday night meeting, board members heard from representatives of Kaclik Builders who are planning a residential development project on property adjacent to land owned by the district near Officer Books Drive and Route 228.
The developers would like to receive .75 acres of district land near the road so that they can build a soccer field as part of their project. In exchange, they are offering about the same amount of land near a current softball field that could allow for an expansion into a full-sized baseball field.
The school board solicitor and Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross will continue to discuss this plan with board members in private session before a vote would be taken in a public meeting.
