–The Mars boys soccer team have reached the PIAA tournament following a 2-0 victory over Bethel Park in the Class 3A consolation game. The Mars girls get their shot at the state tournament tonight when they meet Plum at North Allegheny high school, also in the Class 3A consolation game. The match begins at 8pm.
–The Freeport girls soccer team face South Park in Hampton at 8pm in the Class 2A consolation game.
–The Mars girls volleyball team defeated Freeport 3-2 in the WPIAL Class 3A semifinals last night. The Yellow Jackets had taken two of the first three sets, before the Planets took the final two to reach the championship game. Mars and Beaver meet in the title game Saturday at 3pm at Peters Township high school. Freeport will face Hampton in the third place consolation game Saturday at noon.
–The North Catholic girls volleyball team defeated Canon-McMillan 3-2 in the Class 4A semifinals and have reached the WPIAL championship for the seventh straight time, despite moving up in class two consecutive seasons. The Trojanettes improved to 16-2 this season and will meet 16-1 North Allegheny Saturday in the title match, which will be played at Peters Township at 5pm.
