The Mars Area School Board has selected a local resident to fill the rest of the term of a member who recently resigned.
At their meeting Tuesday night, school board members voted unanimously to choose Dan Long to take over for Nicole Thurner who is moving out of the district.
Long has two children currently attending Mars schools while another two have previously graduated from Mars. A couple of special public meetings were held last week in order to interview the 14 candidates who expressed interest in the position.
Long’s term expires in December of 2025.
