The Mars Area School District is moving forward with a project to keep students cool at Mars Area High School.
At their regular meeting Tuesday night, the Mars Area School Board of Directors first approved the purchase and installation of a new chiller unit at the High School at a cost of $210,000.
The Board also approved the purchase and installation of a new air conditioning unit for the High School gymnasium at a cost of $105,000. Both of these agreements were secured through a Costars bid proposal.
It is expected to take about six weeks to receive the necessary hardware so the three to four day timeframe to actually install the equipment will be planned to coincide with a weekend so as to not inconvenience students and staff in class.
