The Mars Area School Board is considering action that would address problems with their varsity baseball field.
At their Tuesday night meeting, board members heard from several concerned parents and those involved with the school’s baseball program about the poor condition of the field.
The most pressing need is correcting drainage issues that have caused water to collect around the infield. Grading the dirt in that area would solve the problem but the cost could force the district to go through a time-consuming Request for Proposal process.
The school board directed Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross and the district’s athletic director to investigate the situation with the goal of making the field playable again by the spring of 2023.
