Mars Area School District elementary schools are being recognized for raising a large amount of money for a worthy cause.
The American Heart Association has awarded the Heart of Gold Award to the Elementary, Centennial, and Primary Schools for raising a total of over $44,000 during this year’s Kids American Heart Challenges.
Students at the elementary school collected nearly $21,000. Primary Center students raised over $17,000. Centennial School finished with over $6,000. Students also completed many challenges and activities.
Collectively the schools finished fourth in Butler County and 79th among all the schools in the state with the Centennial School being named one of the Top 25 schools in the northwestern part of the state.
