Parents or family members planning to volunteer in the Mars Area School District this coming school year should be familiar with the district’s policy.
The policy follows Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law and groups Mars School volunteers into the three categories of Assistive, Independent, and Coaches or Sponsors.
Assistive volunteers work directly under the supervision of a district employee and do not have routine interaction with students. Independent volunteers work under general direction of a district employee but may have unsupervised contact with students. Coaches or Sponsors directly supervise or instruct students engaged in an activity. Each group has different requirements.
For more information about this policy and others, visit the website of the Mars Area School District.
