The Mars School Board has approved an increase in the starting hourly wages for many of the district’s support staff employees.
The board took this measure in an effort to fill several current openings and remain competitive with neighboring districts.
Effective this Saturday, custodians will receive a starting hourly wage of $13.50; secretaries, paraprofessionals, and Level 1 maintenance workers will receive $15 as a starting hourly wage; while Level 2 maintenance workers will receive a starting hourly wage of $18.
Mars representatives will be attending an education job fair next month in Monroeville where administrators will be conducting interviews for a variety of positions.
