Support staff at Mars Area School District will vote today on whether or not they will accept the district’s latest contract proposal.
According to Pennsylvania State Education Association representative Brooke Witt, custodians, paraprofessionals and secretarial staff at Mars were briefed about the details of the latest proposal yesterday.
The union must now vote within 48 hours.
The Mars School Board set a Sept. 1 deadline for support staff employees to accept an offer or the district says it will move forward with a plan to contract with an outside vendor for custodial services.
It’s unclear how many employees would be out of work.
