Students in the Mars School District will be learning more about local waterways and resources as part of an annual project.
Each fall, 5th graders at the Mars Centennial School travel to Breakneck Creek to study the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the watershed.
Students will also check pH levels, temperatures, and depth of the water. The first of six trips is scheduled for this Wednesday.
It’s a part of the Mars Area Water Protection Program, which aims to give students a “hands-on, cross-curricular” approach to hydro-geological education.
