Mary G. Ziegler, 84, of Renfrew, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford, PA.
Born May 21, 1939, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Day and the late Dorothy (Turner) Day.
Mary worked for Sunnyview Nursing and Home for several years until her retirement in 1996. She was a longtime member of Connoquenessing United Methodist Church. Mary was a very active woman, and enjoyed square dancing, house cleaning, going out to eat and planting flowers. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time at home with her family.
She is survived by her son, James D. Ziegler of Rural Valley, PA; her daughter-in-law, Jackie Ziegler of Rural Valley, PA; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren with one on the way. Mary is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Peffer and Elmira Zirnsak along with a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her foster parents George and Flora Kidd, three sisters, Betty Mager, Carrie Oertel, and Linda Brice and her brother, John Day.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 11-1 at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Bob Edmundson officiating.
Mary will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
