Mary H. Ball, age 83, of Chicora, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her residence.
Born in Butler on October 10, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Anna Marie (Ryan) Atkinson.
Mary was a beautiful woman of faith, exemplified by the organizations she devoted her time to as well as and her interactions with all those around her. Mary was witty, humorous and a born leader. She was full of grace and we were blessed to have her as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mary owned and operated Mary’s Cake, Candy & Party Supplies for 48 years. She also formerly owned the bridal shop Bridal Treasures.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. She served as a Eucharistic minister, and she was a past president of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers. She also was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women, and she formerly was regent of Court Butler 443 Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She enjoyed being a member of the Crimson Chapeau Cuties. In prior years, Mary served on the board of the Mental Health Association in Butler County and was active with the Association’s Compeer Friend program. She also served for many years as CCD coordinator at St. Louis Parish.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry J. Ball, whom she married Oct. 21, 1961; four children, Larry M. Ball and his wife, Laurie, of Chicora. Tina M. Ball, of Chicora, Paula J. Traymar and her husband, David, of Pittsburgh, and Danny R. Ball and his wife, Angela, of Chicora; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Nadine A. Ball; one grandson, Michael Joseph Ball; and one brother, Walter C. Atkinson.
There will be private visitation for the immediate family of Mary H. Ball at the Martin Funeral Home.
All are welcome to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 11 at 1:30 p.m. at All Saints Parish, Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with Rev. Philip N. Farrell officiating.
Burial will take place in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
