Mary Jo Anne Bauman of Saxonburg, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot Pa.
She was born June 10, 1933, in Butler and was the daughter of the late Irving and Elda (Graham) Zorb. Jo Anne was preceded in death by her sister Helen Zorb and brothers Fred Zorb and Irving Zorb.
Jo Anne worked at Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator after High School until she married Thomas Hook on October 18,1952. She enjoyed raising 3 children and was active in leadership roles in the Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star. Jo Anne also enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Grace Lutheran Church and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Later, she worked at the Blind Association in Butler, helping others that were visually impaired.
After Jo Anne’s husband Tom passed away on August 10, 1981, she traveled with her brother and sister-in-law to Germany. Hawaii, and Alaska. On October 24, 1986, Jo Anne married Donald Bauman of Saxonburg, PA and was happily married until his death on July 10, 2020.
She was a very caring, loving and giving person who enjoyed interacting with others and loved visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed sleepovers with her grandchildren and delighted in giving them tea parties, watching Bob Ross with them, and swinging on the back porch.
Jo Anne is survived by her son David Hook of Karns City, two daughters, Barbara Blakley of Butler PA and Debbie (Bill) Tishey of Fountain Inn SC, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, PA 16001 on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 11AM to 11:30AM immediately followed by a memorial service at Trinity. Graveside service immediately following at North Side Cemetery. The service will be streamed at www.youtube.com/@
